TYPES OF GAS SCRUBBER
1. Acidic (HCL / HCL+SO2) Gas Scrubber:
An Inefficient Solution
Indian Pharma / Chemical process industry produce HCl Gas, and it is scrubbed with Water Scrubber, followed by Caustic Scrubber. Operation and Maintenance of Conventional FRP Packed-Bed Scrubbers remains a problem for the industries.
Are you also facing HCL Scrubber Operation Problems like –
- Corrosion
- Low Concentration of HCL
- High Caustic consumption.
- High ETP/MEE load of the Scrubber Effluent.
- Low purity of combined Gas scrubber like (SO2).
HCL Gas Isothermal Absorber / Scrubber: An Innovative Solution
The design of the PROCESSOL falling-film-absorber scrubber is an integration of Graphite absorber/heat exchanger and PP/FRP Scrubber as a proven and corrosion-resistant Equipment. Special design features ensure that a very even fluid distribution is achieved on the inner side of the absorber.
Hydrogen chloride (HCl) feed gas enters at the top of the falling film graphite absorber and flows co-currently with weak acid coming from the tails tower. Heat of solution released as a result of the absorption process is removed by the cooling water flowing in the shell side of the falling film unit.
Product acid at up to 28 ~ 32% hydrochloric acid leaves at the bottom of the falling film absorber at a suitable temperature for storage and is ready for pumping and further process. Product acid is saleable in the market, Overall, Break-even point of the entire system will be less than 6 months.
The remaining unabsorbed hydrogen chloride gas and any inert gases present leave at the bottom of the falling film unit and enter at the bottom of the tails tower. Process feed water entering at the top of the tails tower absorbs the hydrogen chloride to form dilute hydrochloric acid. The dilute acid flows to the top of the falling film absorber to serve as the liquid feed to the tubes. Remaining Gas (if any – Like SO2) is scrubbed in secondary scrubber and produce more pure by-product.
Benefits of HCL Gas Isothermal Absorber/Scrubber:
- 28-32% Concentration HCl Acid can be generated, which can be saleable in the market or can be used in the process.
- Overall Caustic consumption will be less. Means Less OPEX.
- As more HCl is recovered, ETP/MEE load will be less.
- System can be used for all type of gases, followed by caustic/Acid Scrubber.
- Better recovery of combined Gas like SO2.
- Modular system - required Cooling water and Power. No activity at site.
- Payback Period – Few Months
2. Ammonia (Basic) Gas Scrubber:
Design and Type of Ammonia (NH3) scrubber depends on several variables like Concentration, Air flow rates, Temperature of the gas stream, and Chemical reagents being utilized.
It is critical to achieving high removal efficiency, and with a PROCESSOL Ammonia Scrubber, the removal of 99% and above is achieved with efficient pack bed design.
Dilute sulfuric acid solution is utilized to neutralize the ammonia in the gas stream, and caustic can be used to adjust the pH of the waste stream before disposal.
Benefits of our Ammonia Scrubber:
- Durable
- High degree of reliability
- Reduction of gas emissions to comply with regulations (odor, and emission standards)
- Turn-key solutions
- Neutralisation of harmful components in industrial air or flue gas streams
